guislichHighland Aspen Group volunteers planted a few new Aspen stands this week, at Lynachlaggan and Guislich.

These sites were chosen for planting because they are in areas where Aspen is not so well represented.   As the trees develop and regenerate by suckering, these small stands will provide habitat for species which depend on Aspen, and act as 'stepping-stones' to aid their dispersal.  Such 'habitat networks' may be essential for the survival of rare Aspen-dependents, especially in the face of climate change.
